FANDOM FRIDAY's!
It's 12 days till LeakyCon 2013 Portland... let's watch some Star Trek and hope for warp capabilities
This week: STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS
While my parents aren't geeky nerdy folks, it is partially considered a requirement to watch Star Trek at least once in your life at their house.
After all.... I was named after the character Deanna Troi. We also share the same birthday month oddly enough... I'm not sure my parent's were aware of this when naming me.
Anyways, I have now seen Into Darkness a total of three times in theatres. For some this is not unusual, however for me it is. The most I will see a movie is twice in theatres. This has occurred only three times in my life, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Sherlock 2, and Avatar. I for the most part will patiently wait until it is released a few months later to rewatch with enthused excitement.
Why have I seen it so often? Because Benedict Cumberbatch has the most amazing sensational voice I have ever heard. (Yes... I do own BBC's Sherlock) He is also terrifying and made it worth watching a billion times over.
However..
There is one scene I'm glad they cut.
The Shower of Evil as pictured below:
I would have had a bout of hysterical laughter in the middle of a packed theatre if this had been in the movie. In fact when I did watch this scene online, that's exactly what happened... hysterical, almost crying, my sides hurt laughter.
I really admire Benedict's acting ability, and the fact he can say his own last name with a straight face. His voice impressions are fabulous, but this shower scene was too much. Too much evil and running water and something else? He looked like he was in pain/thinking too hard about some physic problem that has been pestering the universe. Like seriously, that's the face I used during my high school physics final.
Rating wise? It was a great movie. I loved the story line, and how everyone acted in it. Scotty gets me everytime with his humour and Kirk's flirting is too fun.
Overall: 4.5/5
If there was more Cumberbatch in it, it'd be getting a 6/5
Till next time,
Cheers
